I have heard about Peck Peck Chicken in Teaneck, New Jersey, for quite some time. The first time I actually tried it was during a church retreat, where Brian—one of the co-owners—brought a box of them. I tried the drumstick, which was huge, and even though it wasn’t fresh out of the fryer, it was still crispy and delicious.
I don’t know why it took me so long to give this place a try again, but I am glad I did.

It was a Friday afternoon, and my friends and I called in advance to place our orders since their website explicitly tells customers to “PLEASE ORDER IN ADVANCE!” I got an order of the Peckwich with soy garlic sauce and a 5-piece order of their Signature Chicken Wings with sweet and spicy sauce.

Once I entered, the place seemed busy with takeout orders piled on top of one of the few tables inside, the phone ringing constantly, and people placing orders. My friends picked a table, and we sat there until our order was ready. When it came out, I knew I wanted to try the wings first.

The wings looked crispy, big, and not overly drenched in sauce. On the first bite, they were super crispy and juicy on the inside—just the way they should be. There was a little bit of kick, but not too spicy, and altogether very flavorful. Every single bite stayed just as crispy as the first.

Since I ordered mine to-go just in case I couldn’t finish it, the Peckwich was not cut in half the way it is when my friends order to stay. It is not a big deal at all, just something worth mentioning so you know what to expect when dining in versus taking out. The Peckwich comes with two big panko-crusted tenders hand-brushed with their soy garlic sauce, along with veggies and mayo on a Portuguese roll.

I cut my Peckwich in half and took my first bite; it was so good. Just like their wings, the chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The mixture of the fresh veggies, mayo, and the saucy tenders was incredible—easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had.

I also had a chance to try out their salt & pepper wings. They were not overly salty, and they were perfectly crispy.

Since it has been a while since I last saw Brian, I made sure to take a picture with him, and I am very thankful for the hospitality shown by him and his entire staff.
Overall, I had a great experience. All the staff members were very nice, especially one woman who was moving and working nonstop—she reminded me of my mom 🙂 I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the mood for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) or just want a truly delicious meal.
