I found out about this place while searching for new sub/hero sandwich spots; it was a near-perfect 5-star place on Yelp and Google. I also saw the single “$” sign on Yelp—great reviews with fair prices—so I knew this would be a spot I had to try out.

My friend came with me and we stopped by on a Friday afternoon. The parking lot was packed, so we just parked in the street. The place is definitely more of a take-out spot, but they do have a small table against the window with about three seats for dine-in. We were lucky to snag two of them. We placed our order at the counter and waited about 15-20 minutes. It seems like the majority of customers order in advance and just do take-out.

The Sandwiches: #2 & Cheesesteak (#16)

There were a lot of options I wanted to try, but I ended up getting the #2 under the “Cold Sandwiches” menu: chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, and roasted peppers with balsamic vinegar ($11.50).

Wallington Deli - #2

When the sandwiches came out, they were pretty big with a good weight to them. Although this was technically a “Cold Sandwich,” the chicken cutlet was hot while the fresh mozzarella and peppers were cold. I’m glad it came out that way, as I was initially worried the cutlets would be cold! The bread had a nice crisp and chew; it was definitely freshly made and—most importantly—will not cut the roof of your mouth. The fresh mozz with roasted peppers and balsamic was the perfect combo.

Wallington Deli - Cheesesteak

My friend got the Cheesesteak from the “Hot Sandwiches” menu, and we actually split our halves. The cheese was blended right into the steak, onions, and red and green peppers, so each bite was perfectly balanced. It didn’t feel greasy at all. Just a very solid cheesesteak.

Overall, I had a really good experience. I was full and satisfied, and I will definitely be back to try the “Drunken Chicken” (Chicken Parm with Vodka Sauce). I highly recommend Wallington Deli if you are in the mood for a great hero sandwich for a fair price.v
