Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro 200-02 Northern Blvd, Bayside, NY 11361

I have been coming to Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro in Bayside, New York for over 10 years, and it has always been a favorite of mine. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I used to live in Flushing, and this was my go-to spot for Greek food. I still make the trip out there whenever I can, and I always leave happy.

The combination sandwich is my go-to order, and it is always huge and satisfying. The gyro meat is flavorful and tender, and the souvlaki is juicy and perfectly cooked. I also love the fried calamari, which is crispy and perfectly seasoned.

If you’re looking for a great place to get Greek food, I highly recommend Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro. You won’t be disappointed.

I was visiting Queens and I was near Bayside so I definitely had to make my way here. I came here for dinner time with my nephew to catchup since his 17th birthday past.

We ended up getting an order of onion rings to start which was one of those grocery store bought onion rings and it was alright, as you would expect.

For my main, I went with my go-to, the combination pita sandwich, and the two meats I chose were the gyro and souvlaki. I also got the tzatziki sauce on the side and hot sauce (upon request with the wait staff). When it arrived, the size of the pita sandwich was huge. I had to open the pita wrap and eat the meats first to be able to make it into a regular size gyro sandwich. I like the fact that the gyros are cooked in the standing rotating pit instead of some frozen, cooked in the flat top, the meat has some nice crisp parts to it. The souvlaki meat chunks were plenty and definitely enjoyed dipping them in the tzatziki and adding a few drops of the hot sauce to make the perfect bite. Once I ate a good amount of the meats, it was off to eating the gyro wrap. I repeated the same steps with just the meats and put some tzatziki and hot sauce on the area I was gonna bite from. This was a rinse and repeat process of getting the perfect bite.

I was not able to finish the whole sandwich, but I was glad I was able to take the rest home so I can have it as a snack.

I’m glad the combination sandwich did not get smaller although the price did go up a bit, over $18 but still well worth it and I think it was bigger. Three years ago, it was $15 but for the amount, it’s worth it.

Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro has always been great to me and I highly recommend anyone stopping by especially if you are in the mood for gyros.
