Tacos Joe Mexican Food Denver, CO, 80202

I was staying in downtown Denver for the weekend for a friend’s wedding. I arrived there early in the afternoon and I hadn’t eaten all morning. Once I checked my luggage into the hotel storage, which I recommend in case you arrive early and your room is not ready, this is a great option to explore new cities without carrying your luggage. I did a quick Google search for great food spots nearby and stumbled upon this highly rated taco spot, Tacos Joe Mexican Food. Google says it closes at 2pm and I had just missed it but for some reason, my gut told me to go and check it out regardless.

I rode the Lime scooter there, which I also highly recommend to get around especially if you’re in downtown Denver. Luckily they were open!

The person working mentioned that the barbacoa is the most popular item and that it was sold out… I ended up getting 4 tacos, 2 asada and 2 pastor tacos for $12! I also got a can of Pepsi for a grand total of $13. I decided to sit near the stairway from the Taco cart. There are tables with seats but I believe it’s for another food establishment, don’t want to disrespect any business.

Each taco comes with two corn tortillas, cheese, cilantro and onions. I could have split each tacos into two, but I was really hungry and just wanted to eat.

The pastor taco comes with pineapple and the pork was well marinated. It comes with a lot of protein. The asada was also really good and packed with protein as well. Two tacos would have been enough but I wasn’t planning on taking leftovers to the hotel so I just finished it. I’m also kind of a fat ass deep down.

If I had to choose which is my fave from the two, it’s the asada. Both are great though. The quality and quantity alone should make this place a must try and that’s not even the best part, it’s the price which is very reasonable. Tacos Joe Mexican Food is truly a hidden gem and I highly recommend stopping by if your in downtown Denver or Denver in general.
