When I visited New Orleans on vacation, I used Yelp to find nearby restaurants and discovered Manchu
, which happened to be just two houses down from where I was staying. It was highly recommended by locals and Uber drivers, especially for their chicken wings. One day, my friends and I decided to have lunch at Manchu
. The store had a bodega-like atmosphere, and despite the line of more than 10 people, the wait was relatively quick. I ordered the BBQ chicken wings with shrimp fried rice, and was impressed by the generous portion sizes and affordable prices. The wings were incredibly crispy, and the BBQ sauce had just the right amount of sweetness. The overall taste reminded me of Chinese take-out, although the owners are of Asian descent, not necessarily Chinese.Although I didn’t get to try their regular wings without the BBQ sauce, I understand why Manchu
is a local favorite. The quality of the food, coupled with the reasonable prices, easily makes it a five-star (4.5) establishment for their wings alone. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I will be back for the fried chicken wings (No BBQ sauce)!Service
