When I visited Denver, I was staying downtown, and a good friend of mine, Chris H., told me I had to stop by ChoLon to try the French Onion Soup Dumplings. I trust his taste in munchie foods, so I didn’t even do any research or look at pictures — I just went there for lunch.

ChoLon is an Asian fusion restaurant located on the corner of Blake st. and 16th st.. The interior has a modern vibe to the place. I was first served complimentary starters of some sort of big, round and thin chip accompanied with dip. It was surprisingly tasty and full of flavor.

I already knew what I was going to get, so I ordered the French Onion Soup Dumplings with Gruyère cheese. Each order comes with four dumplings.

The best soup dumplings I had were from New York and New Jersey. And when the soup dumplings came out to my table, it looked very similar to the ones I have had in New York and New Jersey.

When I took my first bite, the texture of the dough was very chewy just like the ones in NY/NJ. This was literally French onion soup with melted cheese with every bite. The chewiness and all the flavor combos together, it was nothing I have ever tried. It was so good.

I did get another item from here, which was the Grilled Beef Skewers (Hong Kong Steak Sauce) which comes in four ($16). It was solid and came medium-rare, the sauce brought more flavor but the beef skewers by themselves is good enough.

The price is $15 for four soup dumplings (LUNCH), kinda pricy but def worth it. I would go out of my way to get it and if you are in downtown Denver, this is a must.
