When I first heard about Adel’s Famous Halal Food, I heard the line was ridiculous, but the wait was worth it. I finally decided to give this place a shot after watching a comedy show with my friend in the city. My friend was the one who told me about it, and since he is a big foodie, I knew this place would be legit.

Once I was able to find parking, the line was pretty long, and it was cold. This didn’t deter me from waiting in line, however. The line did move, but it still felt long for some reason.
The kitchen, which is the food cart, has a lot of cooks. Every staff member has their own task, and they are all working together quickly. Maybe it was because of the cold, but it felt like they were working slowly even though they weren’t.

As I was getting closer to placing my order, I noticed the line behind me was quite long, and I remember thinking that I had been at the very back of it just a little while ago.
I already knew what I wanted: the combo platter (chicken & gyro) over rice with a good amount of white sauce and a little bit of BBQ sauce. The platter also comes with pita and a side salad.
It was so good! Both the lamb and chicken were very flavorful, and the best part of it all was the portion size. It was a heavy hitter, and all for less than $10. I completely crushed my meal and was stuffed and satisfied.

If you are ever in the area and craving chicken/gyro over rice, this is a must-try. It is better than 53rd and 6th, Halal Guys, and you could quote me on that!
