My friend told me about Terrace Ave Deli and mentioned he saw pictures of the steak & fries that looked really good, and when I saw them, I agreed. When I hear steak & fries, I think of The Colonial Grill, which I definitely plan on making my way to. The difference is that Terrace Ave Deli’s steak & fries is not drenched in the creamy sauce that The Colonial Grill does.
I came here on a Friday afternoon. Once we entered, the place was bright and had interesting decor, with a wall covered in green plants for an Instagram-worthy backdrop for your food pics.
I ended up ordering the Loaded Fries – The Knockout Steak & Fries ($22.99), which consists of sliced hanger steak and hand-punched fries, topped with chimichurri sauce, pico de gallo, and garlic aioli. It took about 15 minutes to be ready. I got my steak medium. Well, I asked if I could get it in between medium-rare and medium, more on the medium side.
Once The Knockout Steak & Fries came out, it looked so good, and the portion size was huge. I tried the fries, and they were slightly crispy on the outside and really good, especially with all the toppings.
The steak was cooked very nicely and tasted delicious. The combo of chimichurri sauce, pico de gallo, garlic aioli, and fries was the perfect mix of tender and crispy, with the sauce bringing it all together. The steak and chimichurri sauce reminds me of asado (Argentinian BBQ).
I was really stuffed midway through my meal, but I had to finish all the steak. I almost finished the fries, but it was just too much food, and I was really full.
I highly recommend Terrace Ave Deli in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, if you are hungry and in the mood for delicious steak & fries.
